Set against the backdrop of Europe’s oldest and largest surviving medieval forest, the Balmer Lawn Hotel sits on the outskirts of the charming village of Brockenhurst. Built originally in the mid 1800s as a hunting lodge, the hotel has been host to English and Russian royalty, and even an American President. The Balmer Lawn is a classic country house standing in 3 acres of grounds, providing comfort, tranquility and courteous service. Offering a range of individual bedrooms from standard, superior, family and four poster bedrooms many offering sweeping views across the lawns to the forest beyond. Children and well behaved dogs are very welcome.

The lawn to the front of the Hotel was originally called Palmers Lawn and appears on early documents related to William the Conqueror. The hunting lodge became a coaching inn during the mid 1800s. Situated on the coast road to Lymington and the road leading to Beaulieu, it proved an ideal resting-place for travellers throughout the Forest. The building was commandeered during both World Wars. During World War I the hotel was used as a field hospital. Some still remember injured soldiers being wheeled on luggage trolleys from Brockenhurst Train Station to the hotel. In the Second World War the hotel was transformed into an Army Staff College. Some of the "Orders for the Day" were issued by General Eisenhower from the hotel lawn for the "D Day" invasion. The hotel’s stylish restaurant, Beresfords, offers the very highest standards of food, service and fine wines. Award-winning cuisine ensures a memorable dining experience. Outdoor terrace, swimming pool and tennis courts for guests use. Full English breakfast Full access to the hotel's extensive leisure facilities Free Wi-Fi broadband access throughout the hotel Games consoles, games & DVD's available The Balmer Lawn's leisure facilities offer guests the perfect way to unwind. With both indoor and outdoor heated pools, spa bath, sauna, gym and two squash courts to choose from. Lift service to all floors.
