The Black Swan at Helmsley is a historic inn, turned boutique hotel. Its varied exterior, with its black and white timbered, Elizabethan and Georgian elements, portrays a rich history dating back to the 15th century. Right in the heart of one of the North Yorks Moors’ prettiest market towns, the hotel is smartly appointed, blending antiques with classic contemporary design. Guests come here to walk in the North York Moors National Park, enjoy Helmsley’s many shops and galleries, visit great landmarks like York Minster, Castle Howard and Rievaulx Abbey, and explore Whitby and the coast. The hotel offers forty five beautifully designed and individually inspired bedrooms. All bedrooms are en suite and come with thick snug duvets, warm homely furnishings, soft fluffy towels, luxury Molton Brown toiletries, Freeview flat screen televisions and Sky sports channels, and your own tea and coffee making facilities. Children aged up to 4 years are welcome on a complimentary basis when sleeping in a cot bed. There is a charge of £25.00 that includes the extra bed, bedding and breakfast, and applies to children up to the age of 16 years old when sharing a Superior Ensuite bedroom with you.

The hotel comprises of 3 sections; the black and white house on the left of the terrace, the Georgian house in the middle, and the Elizabethan building on the right, which stands on the site where an inn is believed to have been situated for many centuries. Breakfast is served in the Gallery restaurant from 8.00am - 10.00am. The acclaimed 3 AA rosette Gallery Restaurant, offers varied dining options including a 3 course menu, 6 course taster menu and a lighter market menu. All food is prepared using fresh ingredients and seasonal produce from 6.30pm - 9.30pm. Sunday lunch is served from 12.00pm - 2.30pm as either a 2 or 3 course menu with tea or coffee. Voted the ‘Top Tea Place 2010’ and a ‘Tearoom of Excellence’ in 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2013 The Tearoom Menu is available for guests wishing to dine in the more informal surroundings of the bar and lounge area from 10.00am - 5.30pm. Serving a wide selection of teas from around the world, as well as handmade artisan pastries, lunches and daily specials. The Cygnet Bar is open daily from 11.00am until late. Welcoming hotel residents and non-residents, the bar is the perfect place to relax and enjoy a drink with friends. Guests have use of the walled tranquil gardens where they can sit and enjoy lunch or afternoon tea. Please note however that on occasions the gardens may be privately reserved for wedding parties. Your pet is welcome in the bar, gardens, lounge areas, and your bedroom, however for obvious reasons they aren’t permitted in the tearoom or the restaurant. A small charge of £10.00 per pet, per stay in charged if you wish to bring your pet with you. Rooms available for meetings and wedding hire.
