The award winning hotel is located in Lower Chicksgrove offers four rooms, 3 Doubles and 1 Twin/Family room, all got to independently from the bar. The rooms are elegantly brightened and have unique highlights including beams, cottage windows and incorporate ensuite facilities.The hotels offers free accommodation for youngsters under 3 years when sharing with guardians and offers the utilization of a baby monitor during the stay. The separate 'Plum Cottage' is also available for guests looking for a self-catering break. The cottage has two bedrooms, a lounge, bathroom and kitchen. Awards attributed to the inn include The Good Pub Guide "outstanding" award, County Dining Pub of the Year, one of the top 50 pubs in England by the Independent newspaper. The Compasses Inn is in an ideal location to explore market towns, stately homes and the city of Salisbury and its cathedral. The New Forest, Salisbury Plain, Stonehenge and the beaches of the south coast are all within one hours drive.

Built in the 14th Century as a traveller and traders rest for the journey from Poole to Birmingham, this route can still be seen today. The inn retains many original features such as a thatched roof, beams, fireplaces, flagstone floors and an original serving hatch to serve visitors who stayed outside with the horses. Full English breakfast is included in the room price and served in the rustic restaurant which has won many awards for food and culinary excellence. Lunches are available from 12.00am and 2.00pm and dinner from 6.30pm to 9.00pm Monday to Saturday. Sunday lunch is served from 12.00am to 2.00pm and Sunday evenings from 7.00pm9.00pm. All dishes are freshly made to order and change daily. Relax in the bar area with a local ale or other refreshments. Enjoy the outdoor seating area with views over the countryside and the Nadder Valley. The inn has an abundance of wildlife including badgers, kingfishers and the rare hobby bird. Arrival information

Check In: From 1.00pm-3.00pm or after 6.00pm. Check Out: By 11.00am. Directions: From The East: Exit the A303 westbound after the A36 Salisbury and Wilton exit. Turn left signposted to Teffont and Chilmark. After 2-3 miles, at the T-junction, with the Black Dog on your left, turn right and then immediately left. Follow the road through Chilmark towards Tisbury. Turn left towards Salisbury and Chicksgrove. At Chicksgrove village turn right signposted to Sutton Row and Sutton Mandeville. The inn is half a mile up the road on the right. From the South: Take the A30 west of Salisbury towards Shaftesbury. Take the third right, west of Fovant, signposted Chicksgrove and Sutton Mandeville. Turn right into Lagpond Lane. The Compasses Inn is about one mile down this single-track lane on the left-hand side. Nearest Train Station: Tisbury station (2 miles) with a direct link to London Waterloo.
