Situated in the beautiful Devon countryside in close proximity to Lyme Regis, Charmouth and Sidmouth coastal towns and beaches. The friendly and warm hotel has stunning views over the Axe Valley and is in an ideal location to sightsee Devon, Dorset and Somerset. The hotel offers 3 distinctive accommodation areas to suit every taste. All 16 ensuite bedrooms overlook the mature gardens, and are comfortable and offer a home from home feel with luxury Egyptian cotton sheets, luxury and soft fluffy towels. Choose from four poster, King size, double or twin bedded rooms which are located either in the Main House or the East Wing. There are some fabulous walks close by, while the sandy beaches of Lyme Regis on the Jurassic Coast are also nearby, so they are happy to welcome dogs. There will even be a welcome biscuit or two in the bedroom and lots of dog friendly information available. Note: As of 2020 there will be a charge of £14 per booking for dogs, payable on arrival.

The house was built in 1900 as the home of Harrietta Briscoe, daughter of the rector of Hawkchurch. The house having changed hands over the years, was opened as a hotel in 1972 at which point the East Wing was built, followed by the restaurant extension in 1976. Adam & Carrie currently live at the hotel with their two boys, Tom and Oscar, and their three dogs Mocca and Lolly and her son Barney. A full English breakfast is included in the price with a good selection of breakfast items on offer including vegetarian options. * Please note some rooms can be booked as a "room only" option and breakfast can then be purchased at an additional cost. Enjoy locally sourced produce, using Devon and Dorset’s finest ingredients, cooked by an award winning team. The restaurant has been consistently awarded one AA Rosette for Culinary Excellence and were awarded Gold in the Taste of the West awards 2017. The restaurant is open everyday for breakfast and dinner. Enjoy a relaxed drink in the hotel's bar or on the sun terrace in the summer. Extensive grounds of 2 acres which consists of lawned areas surrounded by trees, hedging and flowers to include some unusual trees from around the globe. Enjoy the peace and quiet in the secluded areas of garden or enjoy afternoon or a chilled glass of wine on the South West facing terrace which boasts some amazing sunsets over the idyllic views of the Axe Valley. All bedrooms have a daily room service and include a television, wireless internet, towels, tea/coffee making facilities, desk, hairdryer, telephone and garden views. An extra bed for a child or cots for babies are available on request and pets are also welcome. Guest parking onsite. The Drawing room is ideal for guests to relax with their morning coffee whilst reading the paper or using the free Wi-Fi. Next door is the Morning Room/Library which has a tourist information desk. The sun terrace has wonderful views over the countryside.

Arrival information

Check In: From 3.00pm Check Out: By 11.00am Directions: By Car: From The M5. Leave the M5 at Junction 25 (Taunton) and take the A358 Chard road. As you enter Chard, at the traffic lights continue straight on, signposted Axminster (staying on the A358). As you are nearing Axminster you will see a sign for A35 Dorchester. Follow this until it meets Axminster by-pass and continue forward a few hundred yards and you will see Hunters Lodge Pub on the right. Turn left opposite the pub onto the B3165 (Crewkerne) road. Three miles down you will see a sign for Hawkchurch and the Hotel sign. From the A303. he A303 is a much improved road and you can either follow the road into Chard (then follow the directions above) or you can leave the A303 then you see the signs for Crewkerne. When you reach the centre of Crewkerne be sure to follow the Lyme Regis sign at the end of the main street (the B3165). This takes you through the villages of Clapton and Marshwood and a couple of miles past Marshwood the hotel and Hawkchurch signs are on your right. Take the right turn and head down the country lane and take the fist turning on your left. There is a sign for Axminster at the crossroad and the hotel is 150 yards along this road and right at the fork in the lane. By Train: Axminster Train Station
