The 4 star 19th Century Falcondale Hotel & Restaurant is set amongst breathtaking scenery in the secret heart of Wales. The Victorian country house sits in 14 acres of grounds and contains many rare varieties of exotic and native trees and shrubs. The location lends itself as an ideal base for exploring the rugged mountains, moorlands and coastal paths of the Cambrian Mountains. Lampeter is only 1 mile away and beautiful Cardigan Bay is only a 30 minute drive away. Offering a variety of individually designed bedrooms which offer many facilities while you are away from home. Voted as one of the most dog friendly hotels in the country, your furry friend receives a cosy dog blanket, water bowl and tasty treats on arrival and can sit with you while you dine in the Conservatory.

A house called Falcondale was built by Daniel Evans, a Lampeter banker, and was left empty in 1820 and soon rented by the vicar of Lampeter, John Williams, who ran a boarding school for boys. It then became the home of David Evans until taken over by the Harford family. In 1812 John Scandrett Harford married Louise Hart Davis, heiress to the Peterwell estate and in 1859 he demolished the first house and erected in its place a three storey, Italian style mansion as seen today. The restaurant offer a memorable dining experience, with white linen napkins and quality locally sourced produce. Justin Heasman (head chef) has been awarded 2AA rosettes for the 9th consecutive year and is very keen to use locally sourced ingredients whenever in season. Breakfast offers cold buffet options such as fruit, cereals and juices and there are also hot options available such as freshly cooked breakfast, hot beverages, toast which are all served to your table. Cold buffet, hot beverages and toast are available from 7.30am, cooked breakfast is available from 8.00am - 10.00am. Lunches are informal where guests can choose from a light bite, soup and sandwiches, or have a full 3 course menu. Book a Falcondale afternoon tea within our many lounge areas, conservatory or terrace. A relaxed area ideal for viewing the scenery. Dinner at Falcondale is more formal, but not stuffy. A comprehensive wine list has been selected that covers the most traditional wine regions, but also offers a variety of new world wines. Set in 14 acres of woodlands and lawns the Falcondale is a perfect place for dog owners or those looking for a peaceful break. The rhododendrons and azaleas provide a feast for the eyes at the end of May beginning of June, with their spectacular range of colours. If you find the gardener in the grounds you can ask him questions and he will endeavour to help. There is free Wi Fi access throughout the hotel bedrooms and public areas, ask at reception for the access code. Daily newspapers and magazines are available in the lounge for the use of guests. Free car parking available on-site.
