The Royal Highland Hotel, opposite Inverness station is the oldest hotel in the centre of the Highland capital. It has easy access to many attractions such as Loch Ness, numerous castles, whisky distilleries, highland sports, shopping and nature watching along the Moray Firth. The hotel has been carefully restored, retaining its unique character. In the foyer the spectacular grand staircase, the inspiration for the Titanic's staircase, leads to 84 spacious refurbished bedrooms - all with very high ceilings. The decor is rich with traditional furniture and deep colours. The rooms all have soft furnishings and antique style furniture. The excellent bathrooms are generally medium to large in size. All bedrooms are ensuite, and are generous in size. Choose from single, double, twin, royal doubles and four poster rooms which have the luxury of either a king or super king size beds.

The Royal Highland is quite remarkable in that of all the erstwhile and once elite group of classic Scottish 'station hotels' it is the only one which has not succumbed to the power of the large hotel groups. A classic ambience yet modern appeal - against a backdrop of most magnificent period features and objects d'art. Nostalgic for some, it has been created with a stylish yet very leisurely atmosphere with distinctive Scottish hospitality that will surprise and delight you - a wonderful alternative to the standardisation and predictability of many city centre hotels. And ample testimony to an imposing and eclectic guest list over the years - from royalty to international stars, not to mention the never ceasing flow of travellers visiting this great city over the 150 years or so since the hotel first opened its doors in 1854, some of whom may well have been on the first steam train to arrive in Inverness just one year later. Full English/Scottish breakfast included. Breakfast is served from 7.00am-9.30am Monday to Saturday and 8.00am–9.30am Sunday. The Gallery Café offers casual dining for lunch and evening meals and has a wide choice of lighter bites or snacks, although an extensive menu does cater for more substantial meals. Open daily from early till late, this is a very spacious area which also serves as a very pleasant, quiet pre and post dinner drinks, aperitifs and liqueurs area which is an alternative to the more vibrant Ash Bar adjoining Ash Restaurant. The Ash Restaurant which includes a cocktail bar and bistro is set in a classically styled dining room with Georgian influences. It boasts a varied menu featuring many dishes inspired by traditional Scottish cuisine. Open for lunch and evening service. The grand and historic lobby is available for guests to relax. The Lobby also contains many important works of art, including 'The Four Philosophers'. Free car parking at the hotel. Free Wi Fi throughout. Cots and high chairs available free of charge. 24 hr room service. Other services include laundry, dry cleaning, ironing and babysitting services.
