Sir Robert Lorimer designed the original mansion house in 1913 as a private home for a northern industrialist. The property was built a few years before Lorimer’s return to Brora, immediately after the First World War, when he was commissioned by The Duke of Sutherland to restore Dunrobin Castle, which had been ravaged by fire in 1915. With the choice of three restaurants and two bars within the hotel, guests can choose to eat informally in the Garden Room or The Bistro, or experience the a la carte menu in Lorimers. Garden Room – Lunch 12pm to 3pm The Bistro – Dinner 6pm to 8pm Lorimers Restaurant – 6.30pm to 8pm Guests can sit in the hotel's grounds and also are only a few minutes walk to the beach. Golf can be booked through the hotel on any of the local courses, including Brora's own 18-hole links course, or neighbouring Golspie, Tain or Royal Dornoch. There is also a snooker table and putting green. All bedrooms are ensuite with a writing desk with good lighting, flat screen colour TV, radio alarm clock, direct dial telephone, free WiFi, hairdryer, safety deposit box, iron and ironing board and tea/coffee hospitality tray.
