The Bedford Hotel has its origins in an Inn, built on the remains of a Benedictine Abbey in 1719. As in many areas, the feudal landlord (the Duke of Bedford) gave his name to this, the principle hostelry in the area. The Inn's transformation into The Bedford Hotel was completed in 1822, and a lavish ballroom was added in 1830. The Bedford Hotel is privately owned, and beautifully restored, and evidence of its long and illustrious history can be seen throughout. Rates including a full Devon Breakfast.
