The Carrock Halls of Residence offers 85 modern ensuite bedrooms. Available throughout the summer for both business or leisure, it has been awarded a 4 Star Visit Britain rating for the last five consecutive years. Arranged in 13 flats of between 5 and 9 bedrooms per flat, they have all the facilities you would expect from a self-catering provider including bedding, crockery, towels, toiletries and internet.
The University of Cumbria is a young institution, founded on the experience of over a hundred years of high level education in this region. Its rich history can be traced back through its legacy institutions: St. Martin’s College in Carlisle and Lancaster, Cumbria Institute of the Arts, Cumbria College of Art and Design, Charlotte Mason College in Ambleside. Complimentary tea and coffee making facilities are provided in each flat kitchen. The flats are fully fitted with electric cooker, microwave, fridge and freezer, pots and pans, crockery and cutlery. In addition to the self-catering facilities, the university can offer a full-board package (subject to numbers and additional cost), from full English or continental breakfast, to packed lunches for your days out and formal dinners. Packages can be tailored to meet your requirements - contact the university to find out more. There is small garden and terrace at the entrance to the halls and picnic benches at the front of the campus. With a bustling city centre, open surroundings and parks, Carlisle is a modern but spacious place to visit. Carlisle's award-winning parks are ideal places to relax, get active with a game of football or tennis, or discover more about the fascinating history of the city. Several parks are within easy walking distance of the campus, including Rickerby Park with its links to Hadrian's Wall, and Bitts Park with its children's play areas, Japanese gardens and ornamental lawns. Steeped in history and located on Hadrian's Wall, Carlisle is packed full of things to do; with Carlisle Castle, the Cathedral and the award winning Tullie House Museum. There are plenty of opportunities for walking and cycling and the halls are ideally placed for the Coast to Coast and Hadrian's Wall cycle routes. Wifi internet access is available in each bedroom. Each flat has a shared seating area next to the kitchen. Coin operated laundry and drying facilities are located at the entrance to the halls priced at £2.20 per wash and £1.50 per dry. Luggage storage can be arranged with prior notice, please mention in the additional information section of the booking form if your require storage. The campus has an air-conditioned gym and multi-purpose sports hall fully-equipped to accommodate many sports including: Five-a-side football, Four badminton courts, Full sized and mini basketball courts, Volleyball, Tennis, Trampolining, Table tennis. In addition to pay and display car parking there is also secure cycle parking on campus.

Please mention in the additional information section of the booking form. Directions: By Road: From the east, approach Carlisle from the A69. From the north or south leave the M6 at junction 43 for Carlisle (A69). Head into Carlisle along Warwick Road (A69). Turn left at the third set of traffic lights onto Greystone Road then turn right into Fusehill Street. The campus is the second entrance on the right. By Rail: Carlisle is on the main west coast rail line from London to Glasgow and also has a direct, cross-country connection to Newcastle. The campus is a 15-minute walk, or short taxi ride, from the railway station. Taxi's from the station are approximately £3.00. By Air: Newcastle Airport - 75 mins away, Glasgow Airport - 1½ hours away, Manchester Airport - 2½ hours away. Parking: Please note that there is limited pay and display parking on campus. (0-2 hours: £1, 2-4 hours: £1.60, 4-8 hours: £2.40, 8-10 hours: £3.20). Parking is free from 6pm until 8am each evening and on Saturdays and Sundays. When campus parking is full there are ample pay & display spaces at the nearby Cecil Street Car park ( CA1 1NL). Turn right onto Fusehill Street and carry forward onto Myddleton Street. At the top of Myddleton Street, turn left onto Aglionby Street, this leads onto Tait Street where you will find Cecil Street Car Park on the left. On-Street parking: Two hour on-street parking is available on Fusehill Street, the Reception team can provide parking disks upon request.
