A large and elegant country house set amidst hundreds of acres of farmland on the edge of the beautiful and historic village of Falkland in Fife. The house was built as a manse in 1806 for the Rev. George Buist, and designed by a famous architect, Thomas Barclay. This Georgian home was formerly home to Frances Shand Kydd, and has been visited by Diana, Princess of Wales, and her sons, the Princes William and Harry. Falkland is in Central Fife, within 40 minutes of Edinburgh, St Andrews, Perth and Dundee, and within 30 miles of more than 50 golf courses. Ideal for large families and groups, the house sleeps up to 12 adults and 2 children in 6 bedrooms; there are 3 en-suite rooms, and 2 family bathrooms. There is a dining kitchen with AGA, a light and airy conservatory, a comfortable Drawing Room with dual aspect and open fire, a TV room, and a Dining Room to seat 12. There is plenty of outdoor space, with a sunny terrace, south and west facing, an acre of walled garden with trampoline and swings for the kids. Minimum stay 3 days.

Built in 1806, this house was previously owned by Francis Shand-Kydd, the mother of the late Diana, Princess of Wales, Ladywell House in Falkland Fife, is believed to have been visited by Diana and her sons, Princes William and Harry. The property was owned by the Church of Scotland until 1987, and was built for the Rev George Buist, and designed by Scottish architect, Thomas Barclay. The house was built on land formerly owned by the Knights Templar and the farm above the house is called Templelands. The house next to Ladywell House is Chapelyard, built in the yard of the Chapel of Our Lady by the Templars. The name Ladywell comes from the Well of Our Lady which is situated to the rear of the property. The house takes its water from St John's Well, which until recently fed the town of Falkland. There are a number of restaurants in Falkland, 10 minutes walk, which provide a variety of meals. The house sits in an acre of walled garden and is surrounded by hundreds of acres of grazing. The house enjoys splendid views to Falkland and North Fife. Child-friendly.Travel cots, highchairs and baby-changing facilities are available. With two small children of their own your hosts are happy to provide baby-sitting if required. Dogs are welcome, by arrangement, provided their owners are well behaved, but may not sleep on the beds (dogs)!
