A initimate and friendly hotel with seven tastefully refurbished bedrooms, retaining many of its original Victorian features. Set in 5 acres of private grounds with ample free parking, offering guests peaceful surroundings and stunning views. The village of Cleckheaton is also home to the Aakash - the largest Indian restaurant in the world, and is only 15 minutes drive from Leeds city centre. The hotel benefits from easy access to the M62, with easy access to Bronte country, and the Yorkshire Dales. All children under 2 years stay free of charge when using existing beds or if they use the hotel cots/cribs (which would have to be requested prior to staying). All older children or adults are charged 50% of the room stay per night per person for extra beds and the maximum number of extra beds/children's cots permitted in a room is 1.
The Gomersal Lodge formerly named High Royd was built for Mary Taylor on her return from New Zealand in 1860. Mary Taylor became famous because of her friendship with Charlotte Bronte which lasted until Charlotte's death in 1855. Providing inspiration for Brontes famous novel 'Vilette' this residence is certainly one for literature lovers! A full English breakfast is served in the restaurant at an additional cost of £7.50 per person, per night, please add as an Upgrade when booking, or guests can opt for a continental breakfast at an additional cost of £3.50 per person, per night, please add as Upgrade when booking. There is also a licensed bar where guests can enjoy a drink and there are a number of restaurants and pubs within walking distance. The hotel is set in 5 acres of gardens, where guests can sit and relax or take a stroll. There is free car parking and compliementary Wi-Fi is available to all guests, and there is also a 24 hour reception desk and porter service. Other facilities include meeting and banquet facilities, business centre and bridal suite.
