Halifax Hostel is not opening this summer vacation and all self catering accommodation will be at James College and bookable via James College. Halifax College is situated in a peaceful location, within walking distance of Heslington Village and the University campus. York City Centre is about 15 minutes away by bus or car. Bedrooms are let on a self catering basis and no meals are included in the rate. Bedrooms are single occupancy with a wash basin in each room and use of shared bathroom facilities within the house allocated to you up to a maxiumum of 11 guests. York is a City famous for the iconic York Minster, exquisite architecture, a tangle of quaint cobbled streets including The Shambles. Boutique shopping, a vibrant café and restaurant culture and world class museums such as the National Railway Museum and the unique Jorvik Centre make York a wonderful place to visit. There are various catering outlets on campus, please ask for details. Please collect your bed linen on arrival at the College and return at the end of your stay. Towels are not included, so please remember to bring your own bath and hand towels. Rooms are serviced prior to your arrival, but not during your stay. A fully equipped self catering kitchen is available which includes oven, hob, microwave and fridge/freezer. Also included : cooking utensils, crockery, cutlery and washing equipment including a vacuum cleaner. Please remember to bring your own tea towels, kitchen towels and dishcloths. Special requirements/requests - If you need any further information or have any individual requests please make a note in the "Additional information" section of the booking form or call the telephone number noted on your booking receipt and the vendor will be happy to advise you further on what they can offer. No Smoking - the campus buildings including bedrooms are strictly no smoking and a charge from £100 upwards will be levied to cover additional cleaning costs required to ensure the room is acceptable for the next guest. Internet access – City of York’s free WIFI CityConnect is available on campus. Guests can log-in using a social media account, or by filling in a short web form. Once logged-in, the session will remain active for 24 hours. Cashpoints – there are cash machines and a branch of Santander at Market Square Gym and Sports facilities – there is a Sports Centre on campus, please ring 01904 323855 or 323856 for information and rates. www.york.ac.uk/univ/sports Laundry - There are laundrettes on campus – please ask at the College Reception for directions to the nearest one. Shops – There is a supermarket on campus at Market Square. Pets - are not allowed in our accommodation with the exception of assistance dogs, please let us know if this applies. Campus – The University is a community with many members of staff and students living on campus throughout the year. Please keep noise to a minimum between 23:00 and 07:00 and show respect for other guests.
Bedrooms are available from 14:00 Checkout by 09:30 Halifax College Reception, where you collect your key from is open 24 hours 7 days a week. The telephone number for Halifax College Reception can be found on your booking confirmation and receipt email. Please remember to bring your own bath and hand towels A 24 hour onsite Campus Security team available with contact details included on the information leaflet. A fire evacuation leaflet is displayed in each bedroom and guests are asked to familiarise themselves with the exit route and assembly point in the case of a fire. Parking is available at Halifax College with a pre-ordered parking hanger. Please call York Conferences on 01904 328431 to purchase your hanger which will be available for you on checkin. Parking – Car parking is available in Pay and Display car parks on campus. For directions and maps please visit http://www.york.ac.uk/about/maps Nearest railway station - York Railway Station The No.66 bus runs to/from campus every 10-15 minutes with a journey time of approximately 15 minutes depending on traffic. A taxi to campus from the station takes c.15mins and costs approximately £8.00
