Highfield House is a warm and relaxed bed and breakfast which is open all year round and is the ideal location for visiting many of Scotland's historic sites and beautiful landscapes. Holyrood Palace and Edinburgh Castle are under 10 miles away and for golfers there are numerous courses in the local area. Choose from spacious double or twin bedrooms, each with en-suite facilities, TV, radio, hairdryer, electric blankets and tea and coffee making facilities.
Highfield House is a traditional Scottish Manse dating from 1730. As such it is steeped in history as is the whole area surrounding the Manse. The new Manse house as it stands now was established in 1750 due to the parish being enlarged. 70 years on we see the Manse itself undergoing enlargement. Here is the ' Statistical Account of 1844' description... "and this has been done in a manner highly creditable to taste and liberality, the internal arrangements are in commodious accordance, and in external appearance, it is now a very handsome structure, nowise unworthy of the conspicuous and commanding situation that it now occupies." Full English/Scottish breakfast served around the large dining room table. It includes fruit from the garden, home made jams and bread, free range eggs, bacon, sausages, tomatoes, mushrooms and, by request, black pudding and haggis. Pre arrangement for evening dinner can be made. Surrounded by 3 acres of gardens including lawns, shrubs, roses and the potager where the fruits and vegetables for the house are grown. Outdoor seating available. An Astroturf tennis court is available for guests enjoyment with free use of rackets and balls. Enjoy the comfortable drawing room with open fire to relax and unwind.
