The Old Passage, for centuries the site of the ford across the River Severn, is now a seafood restaurant with hotel accommodation. Set at the end of a peninsula on a great ox bow bend, overlooking the river and, on its far bank, the hills of the ancient Forest of Dean offer a dramatic backdrop. With three double ensuite rooms, all with views across the river and furnished in a contemporary style and equipped with fridge, kettle, television, DVD and wi-fi. Discounted rates are available for single occupancy. Please note there is a different tariff for weekend bookings, see Available Rooms for the promotion codes. Closed on Mondays and although the Inn is open for Sunday lunch, it does not offer accommodation facilities on Sunday evenings.

An early 19th century Inn perched on the banks of the estuarial River Severn, Britain's longest river. For centuries it has been the site of the ford across the River Severn and travellers have used this idyllic place to seek refreshment and to cross the river for 2000 years, usually by ferry but by foot during certain tides. Continental breakfast is served. The menu in the restaurant varies with the availability of fresh fish and may change daily. Whenever possible, all produce is sourced locally, for instance the fresh water crayfish. Chef Mark Redwood takes pride in using sustainably sourced fish and shell fish. There is always lobster fresh coming predominantly from Pembrokeshire but on occasions from Cornwall. Freshly shucked oysters and Fruits de Mers are particular specialities of the Old Passage. The Old Passage was one of just three finalists in the Restaurant of the Year category of annual Cotswold Life Food & Drink Awards which gives valuable recognition to producers, growers, suppliers and hospitality venues across the region. Sited at the perfect spot from which to see one of the world's most amazing natural phenomena, the Severn Bore. It is a large surge wave that can be seen in the estuary of the River Severn, where the tidal range is the 2nd highest in the world, being as much as 50 feet.
