Home of the Grand National Winner 'Don't push it' 2010 Voted 'Racing pub of the year' 2008 Sitting in the hamlet of Ford, this popular 16th Century Inn, renowned for its excellent menu and fine Donnington ales, is ideally placed for exploration of many nearby Cotswold attractions. The Plough Inn has three warm comfortable double rooms, and can accomodate up to four people. There are superb views of the gallops from the rooms. The area holds everything for appreciators of the countryside as well a rich and diverse cultural and sporting heritage. Racing enthusiasts: The area is also steeped in connections with the famous racing stables of Jackdaws Castle right opposite and other notable establishments nearby, all of course a short distance from Cheltenham, the "blue riband" home, of National Hunt racing. The B & B rooms overlook the beautiful gallops of Jonjo O'Neil's training yard. On Grand National day, April 2009, Craig Brown - landlord of The Plough Inn came second in the John Smith's Peoples Race. After months of fitness and riding training, this was an excellent result. For Craig it was a once in a lifetime experience that he will never forget.

The Inn served as the local courthouse, the cellars being used as cells for sheepstealers. Under the rear lounge window are the remains of the indoor stocks, which once held miscreants. One of the Pub's best-kept secrets is the breakfast that is served on a daily basis on race-days. A perfect preparation for the day and to suppress any effects of over-indulgence from the night before! Hot beverages are served throughout the day. Booking is recommended, especially at weekends, as the varied menu of delicious freshly cooked food is much in demand locally. A comprehensive blackboard menu featuring daily specials using as much fresh seasonal local produce when available, including the fabled asparagus suppers. Julian, the Head Chef, is happy to cater for special dietary needs such as gluten-free, dairy-free as well as vegetarian requirements. As a complement to the usual menu, Sundays always feature a traditional roast served all day. Only the best quality local fresh meat is used from two of suppliers, Watts butchers and Martins Meats. You can be assured of only the best quality meat provided on the menu. "All of the beef, lamb, pork & chicken are free range and slaughtered within the Cotswolds & Gloucestershire. No animal travels further than 25 miles from farm to our local slaughter house, thus reducing the food miles that our food covers. The beef is dry matured on the bone for 28 days, Lamb 10 days & pork 6 days. This process is vital for producing the best quality meat" Martins Meats. The Plough Inn has a large children friendly garden, complete with an activity corner. Meals are available in the garden during the summer and dogs, on leads, are welcome in the garden. Shooting lunches are organised at the Plough and there are fine walks, cycling, fishing and golf in close proximity. Guides detailing local walks are available at the Pub. For al fresco dining in the warmer months there is a large beer garden at the rear of the inn complete with a play fort for children. The nearby historic towns and villages (Stow-on-the-Wold, Broadway and Tewkesbury to name but a few) present a variety of museums, antique craft shops and visitor attractions guaranteed to provide an absorbing visit.
