The hotel is situated in the peaceful nation town of Faugh, just a little ways from Carlisle and intersection 43 of the M6 motorway. The inn features many original and traditional features such as oak panelling, open log fires and stoves, leaded diamond windows, brass and copperware, sandstone fireplaces and wooden beams. Choose from single, twin, double, superior double, family and four poster rooms which have all been, newly refurbished in a country style, with french ivory furniture and striped statin sheets. Superior rooms have the luxury of a Jacuzzi bath and four poster rooms have a large corner bath.
Built around 1659 when England was wracked by Civil War and religious conflict. Even so, merchants still traded, commerce still persisted and people still travelled, stopping off to rest at rural taverns where a new string of horses could be harnessed to the long-distance stagecoach, thus the name String of Horses. A full English breakfast is served freshly every day in the rustic restaurant with local Cumberland sausages. Lunches and dinners are available featuring regional and international cuisine and an ever-changing menu to appeal to every taste. Relax with a drink in the comfortable bar, with a range of excellent quality wines, draught beers and lagers, as well as local real ales. Please note that both restaurant and bar are closed on Mondays. Outdoor seating available for guests to enjoy a drink or snack. Free Wi-Fi access, digital TV and an en suite bathroom in every room.
