The 17th Century Taychreggan Hotel is located on the edge of Loch Awe. Previously, voted the most romantic hotel in Britain by the AA, most of the 18 en suite bedrooms have views over Loch Awe, some also have Four Poster beds. With a fine dining restaurant that has been awarded 2 rosettes by the AA and the Head Chef was a finalist for the prestigious 'Rising Star Chef of the Year 2010' award. The hotel has its own fishing rights so you can bring your gear along and try to catch your own Dinner! Chef will cook your catch for you. Child beds can be added to some of the rooms and two children can share the Master suite. Baby Sitting and baby listening services are also available at the hotel. If you can't leave your four legged friend, dogs are also welcome, please see Available Rooms for the promotional codes.

Originally a former drovers inn over 300 years ago it is located at the thinnest crossing point on Loch Awe. The drovers would drive their cattle across the loch to graze or to market. Taychreggan was 'put on the tourist map' in 1785 when Dr. Samuel Johnson and his biographer and travelling companion James Boswell stayed at Taychreggan on their epic 83 day journey and published "A Journey to The Western Islands of Scotland". Breakfast is served between 8.00am - 10.00am in the loch facing restaurant, fresh fruit, yoghurt, homemade toast and preserves, juices and smoothies. Cooked options such as a full Scottish Breakfast, locally smoked salmon with scrambled eggs and porridge are available. Arrangements can be made for an earlier continental Breakfast or packed lunch to take away instead. Enjoy an Afternoon Tea of homemade scones with chantilly cream and jam or some shortbread in one of the lounges, Orangery or perhaps outside. The Bar is open all day and has an array of Scottish single malt whiskys, together with a range of Scottish produced beers and ales, the most locally from Oban. A candlelit five course gourmet Dinner in the two AA rosette restaurant which overlooks Loch Awe is available for £44.00 per person, using produce from various local suppliers, including dairy, meat and fish. A table d'hote menu is also offered. If you would like to reserve a table for Dinner please add this into the 'Additional Comments' box. Most popular are the various benches around the hotel which are perfect for enjoying some afternoon tea or a drink whilst watching the loch go by. The hotel has its own fishing rights so you can bring your gear along and try to catch your own dinner! Chef will cook your catch for you. The grounds extend to over 40 acres, most of which is natural woodland. Sightings of Roe Deer are regular in the mornings and evenings as they venture for food. Free parking is available at the rear of the Hotel. Wi fi is available in all public rooms. A computer is available for guests in the Orangery if you wish to check emails, book ferry tickets etc. Play on the full size snooker table, for those with a relaxed yet competitive side! Board games and a growing collection of books are available. A number of activities can be arranged such as Mock Deer Hunt, Clay Pigeon shooting, Fly fishing or the hotel hires out its own small boat with engine which you can use to explore some of Loch Awe's islands or perhaps Kilchurn Castle.
