The property is thoroughly modernised to accord with modern ideas and ideals of accommodation - a treasury of tradition - maintains the first class service that has distinguished it for upwards of 500 years. All the rooms at the White Hart offer a versatile amount of accommodation. There are basic rooms that share a bathroom; large, luxury double rooms with en-suites; single rooms and family rooms.

It was first built in 1461, on the junction of the old London/Exeter & Oxford/Southampton roads and has a rich history. The sign is a badge of the house of Lancaster and recalls the series of famous battles between 1455 and 1471 which history labels the War of the Roses. The White Hart also has connections with the church as church parson and keen angler Charles Kingsley, who wrote The Waterbabies in 1863, visited often when he was fishing in the River Fleet. He is recorded as saying of The White Hart: "I like this place and that is the truth." For those who venture upstairs, there is an elaborate bedstead in one of the hotel's fifteen bedrooms which is said to have belonged to former British Prime Minister, Benjamin Disraeli. In Whitchurch there is the only working Silk Mill in Europe. Breakfast is served from 7.00am-11.00am Monday to Friday and Saturday/Sunday 8.00am-11.00am. Full English Breakfast, Continental Breakfast and Full Vegetarian breakfast available. Lunch is served from 12.00pm-2.00pm and dinner is served from 6.00-9.00pm Monday to Friday & Saturday/Sunday lunch is served 12.00pm-12.30pm and dinner 6.00-9.30pm. There are local handmade sausages, Whitchurch free range eggs, fruit and vegetables from the local pick your own (season depending), and even granny's famous jams, marmalade and chutneys produced here in Whitchurch. A wide variety of modern and traditional English pub food is offered with continental specialities and a good vegetarian range. There is a children's menu and a 'Young at Hart' menu is a very popular choice with the over 60's. As much local food is used to show support to local producers and to ensure everything is always as fresh as possible. The bar is stocked with everything from special wines to real ales, spirits to cocktail ingredients. Bar snacks and sandwiches also available.
